A five-day intensive beginners’ short course on the art and craft of writing about journeys and places, led by author Rolf Potts. Students will participate in workshops, writing-craft classes, one-on-one consultations, and interactive journaling exercises around the city of Paris. Learn to hone your creative instinct, your reportorial skills, and your on-the-page prose in this intensive exploration of travel-themed essays and memoirs.

Rolf Potts’ essays and reportage have appeared in such venues as The New Yorker, The Atlantic, National Geographic Traveler, Sports Illustrated, the Travel Channel, and National Public Radio, as well as over 20 nonfiction anthologies, including the Best American Travel Writing series and the Best Creative Nonfiction series. Potts has taught nonfiction writing at Penn and Yale University, and he has taught a variety of one-week and one-month courses for the Paris Writing Workshops. Potts has authored of five nonfiction books, including the travel-bestseller Vagabonding (Random House, 2003). His newest book is The Vagabond’s Way (Ballantine, 2022).
Award-winning writer and De Anza College professor Julie Pesano will provide program assistance for Rolf’s Paris Travel Memoir classes.
